How to Make a Memorable Company Logo
With all of the commotion that goes along with a business, sometimes the easiest things are forgotten. Even worse, sometimes the easiest things can become complicated because after all—is anything about your company really easy?
As it turns out, creating a logo is one of those rare things about your company that will turn out great results without a ton of work. Just ask Google. A logo is part of your company’s branding, which consists of everything a company does and everything a company is involved with including mission statements, customer guarantees, Internet marketing efforts, and taglines. If you have creative people on your side, you should be able to come up with a logo or tagline that is ready to hit the Internet in successful, viral fashion.
I dare you to try and think of a major company that does not have a logo. Everyone is reaping the benefits of logos because they have proven to be potentially very powerful. However, there are a few things to consider when creating your logo that will help get your company into the minds of consumers:

Target Customers: As a company, you should know the type of customers you draw in; then make sure your brand makes sense for that group of people. For example, if you cater mostly to people between the ages of 50 and 60, having a skateboard as your logo may not be the best idea in terms of its appeal to your audience. (Try something classic, vintage, or timeless instead.)
Competition: Consider your competition when you begin creating a brand. You do not want to be too similar in shape or color to another company. Most customers see brands and identify them quickly, so you do not want people having to stop and think. If this happens, those looking at the logo will be thinking just as much about your company as the ones you are competing with!
What Are You Known For?: If you have a particular trademark already in place, use it! If not, there is most likely something that you want your company to be known for. Figure out what makes your company unique, and focus on this as much as possible when creating a brand.
Seek Advice: Ask your family and friends what they think of a few possible logo ideas you and your staff come up with. This is one of the few areas of business that anyone can really help with because it is a simple matter of opinion. In this situation, you can listen to anyone – and not just your designer.
Consider Using Your Company Name: If your company name is short enough, it is a good idea to incorporate it into the logo or make it the logo altogether. This is great if it’s the case that your company is not too well established yet; having your name out there and pushing it forward by visual means will only add to the effectiveness of a logo.
Keep in mind that there are experts available who will create different logos for your company if no one in your office is particularly artistic. Generally, the simpler the logo the better – it will be easy to reproduce and easy to remember.
