Focusing On One Niche Market To Find Success
These days, there is so much information out there and available to us constantly – so much so that we tend to get distracted and are pulled dozens of different directions every day. With so many options to pick and with so little time to do so, things can get really crazy just trying to figure out which ones to pay attention to.
The same goes for business; I don’t know about you, but I get swept up by the latest and greatest from time-to-time – it’s always exciting to know about what’s new, what kind of traffic is hot, what software has come out and so on.
When it comes to choosing a niche market to target it’s no different – I’ve been in touch with plenty of marketers over the years who have jumped from one project to the next, from niche to niche, never really focusing in on one and not giving their all to go the whole nine yards.
Focus, the Key to Success?
I don’t have any firm research numbers on this, but I truly believe that at least 80% of success is based on your focus – the focus you have on your business plays a massive role on where you spend your time, how you spend your time and how effective that time is spent.
Now, don’t get me wrong here – focus is great, but it won’t allow you to hit your goals by itself – you still need to put in the time and effort to educating yourself. Rather than starting out with something fresh every week, choose a path to take and stay on it, go deep.
Once you’ve chosen a market, stick with it and keep working it – if you’re having trouble finding a niche market, look within yourself – what are you passionate about?
If you have a few passions, check to see if there is potential within the niche – do people spend money on products? Information? Coaching?
By intertwining your passion and purpose with your business, you’re that much more likely to succeed.
Focus Creates Power (And Usually Results)
Focus, but stay flexible with your approach – going deep in one niche will help you stay focused while you figure out how you’ll be attracting clients, providing them a service and ultimately making some money for yourself.
As you focus and track your progress, you’re much more likely to find success – awareness alone can give you a lot of power that would be lacking if you were scattered all over the place.
What happens if you aren’t seeing results? Kick your own butt and switch it up – but stay within the niche you’ve chosen. If you’ve done your research, you’ll know why you aren’t seeing results – you’re either not attracting enough new customers, or aligning with what they truly want.
